6 September 2017: Maharashtra Range Forest Officer 38 trainees from Forest Training Institute and Rangers College, Sundernagar, Himachal Pradesh visited ENVIS Centre on Medicinal Plants, FRLHT-TDU, Bengaluru on 6th September 2017. 1 September 2017 Onwards: The TDU-Nature India Media Fellowship for Science Journalism will financially support – with a bursary of Rs 100,000 (including field travel expenses for the stories) — a group of selected Indian journalists to explore and report on scientific research as well as allied fields such as biodiversity, health and environment, through the lens of science. It will help the media fellows create a strong body of work by publishing or broadcasting stories in their respective media outlets.

21 August 2017: A one day orientation on Medicinal Plants and Conservation for Forest Guards of Karnataka, from Mysore was conducted at FRLHT-TDU campus, Bengaluru on 21st August 2017. The sessions conducted were on various aspects of trade and conservation of medicinal plants. 15-16 August 2017: An official visit to Heavenly Fuels Private Limited and GRACE Foundation, Chennai by Ms. Suma T. S., ENVIS Coordinator, ENVIS Centre on Medicinal Plants was undertaken on 15th and 16th August 2017. During this visit, a memorial talk organized by the above said organizations on Ayurveda and diabetes care management was attended. Participated in the Technical Advisory Board Committee members meetings held on 16th August 2017. Also there was a session on served as resource person sensitizing by introduction to ENVIS Centre on Medicinal Plants, FRLHT’s activities and educational resources available through websites and TDU educational programmes.

17-18 March 2017: The National Evaluation Workshop for ENVIS Centres is scheduled to be held on 17-18 March 2017 at Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The ENVIS Centre hosted at Gujarat Ecology Commission (GEC), Gandhinagar is organising the Workshop on behalf of the MoEF&CC for all the ENVIS Centres.

Visit to Gujarat Medicinal Plant Board and Medicinal Plant Garden

16 March 2017: Visit to Gujarat Medicinal Plant Board and Medicinal Plant Garden was undertaken by Ms. Suma T. S., ENVIS Coordinator and Ms. Soumyashree N., Research Fellow, ENVIS Centre on Medicinal Plants, FRLHT-TDU, Bengaluru on 16th March 2017 to learn about activities on Medicinal Plants conservation. Shri I. M. Quraishi, Deputy Secretary AYUSH, GoI and his team were met and visited Medicinal Plants Garden at Gandhinagar established in 1978 by Gujarat State Forest Department now managed by GMPB (1982). During this interaction activities of FRLHT-TDU, was briefed along with an invitation for their team to visit FRLHT-TDU.
9-10 March 2017: Botanical Survey of India, Sikkim Himalayan Regional Centre is organising a two day National Seminar on "Understanding Himalayan Phyto-diversity in a Changing Climate" at Gangtok, in collaboration with the EHSST (Taxo-club) and Sikkim University.
