Other comments |
A
good wild population occurs at Thirupathi and Nallamalai hills, Andhra
Pradesh. Sporadic wild populations also recorded along the bordering districts
of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu States. It needs to be assessed by state-wise
because of its localised distribution in wild. Local traders use the timber
for making diabetes bowls. Tree is a source of red coloured pigment used in
pharmaceutical and dye industries. Woods used for making guitar and violin.
About 56 tonnes of wood chips are exported per year. (M.P.Nayar, Hot Spots of
Endemic Plants of India, 1998). For more detail also refer K.Subramani’s
paper in Silvaplus journal. |
