Local, Commercial.

Other comments

Matthew (1983) reports that this plant is intensively collected by pharmacists for bulk export. Being scientifically a curious plant, it is over collected by Botany students for making herbarium. A good population which was locally abundant earlier has now become almost extinct in Pyakara region (Suresh Baburaj, 1998) and in Munnar surroundings (K.Ravikumar, 1999) due to complete wiping out for export in the name of fruit packing stuffs. Therefore, trade study is essential. Proportion global population in Tamil Nadu < 1%.
