17. Other comments

·          This species extensively occurs in NE states. Intensive studies have been made leading to recognition of seven strains / varieties of the species depending upon the extent of dark colour on the leaf and in the rhizome

·          Its presence in ‘wild’ is reported only in WB. It is often cultivated (Wealth of Asia, 1994). As the wild presence is doubtful in MP & CG, the threat status cannot be assessed. The presence of this species both in wild or in cultivated form has not been reported in Flora of MP,. BSI, 2001.
