Meet Green Ambassador from Dharwad

Meet Makarand Maigur, from Malamaddi, Dharwad. He is just 13 Years old.

He is indeed a source
of inspiration to most of us for his contribution in the field of biodiversity.
As a young and aspiring scientist, he conducted a scientific study to understand
bio-diversity of Dasagi Village, Haliyal Taluk. Through this project, he has
recorded traditional knowledge associated to biodiversity. He also identified
those species that requires propagation trials and conducted the study in
his home town. His team comprising of Satryya Patri, Akshay Gokarnkar, Sridhar
Kalasapur and Suteerth Maigur under their project guide-Sri Gavisiddesh Pattanshetty
fetched them second place in the 14<sup>th</sup> National Level Children Science
Congress, during 2006-2007. He is now a recipient of Child Scientist award
for excellent problem selection and approach to solve it, for their original
work, comprehensive data collection, team work, communication style and impact
of their work. He plans to further work in this area and contribute in the
field of biodiversity.
